Oysters and Wine Specials
Fresh oysters and wine are like two peas in a pod. There are a few classic combinations that will elevate the taste experience, framing the flavors of both the oysters and the wine in the best possible way. However, our motto is always to drink what you love.
Dry (sparkling) white wines like Chablis, Sancerre, Muscadet and Champagne are typically great with oysters. That’s because their acidity acts much like a squeeze of lemon would. Minerality and certain other wine qualities that give the impression of saltiness, also tend to complement the briny-sweet spectrum of West to East Coast oyster flavors.
It also makes quite a difference how you season the raw oysters. Personally we are in favor of no seasoning at all, letting the wine do the job of a squeeze of lemon but conversely adding lemon can make richer and champagnes work better if those are the wines you’d rather drink.
Mountain Lakes Wine and Red Oyster got together on a quest to find the best oysters and wine pairings. Please let us know what your wine preference is and we will advise the perfect pairing for you. Next to that we looked for the best gin that will enhance the taste of fresh oysters.
We are therefore proud to present you the following exquisite oysters and wine specials:
1 dozen freshly shucked oysters & 1 bottle of Ruinart Blanc de Blanc
Ruinart Blanc de Blanc
The very first champagne house, Ruinart, was founded 290 years ago.The blend of the Ruinart Blanc de Blanc is 100% Chardonnay from various years (20 to 25% of which are reserve wines from the 2 previous years). Beautiful pale golden yellow color with gentle green reflections, a vibrant, luminous colour. Active effervescence with a persistent release of bubbles.
It is an excellent complement to seafood and shellfish.
If you are not a huge champagne fan, we have a great Meursault to accompany the oysters. It is the Joseph Drouhin Meursault from Burgundy in France.
