Steamed Oysters with Black Bean Sauce
This delicious recipe calls for a steam basket, but if you don’t have one, don’t worry! You can put a lid on a colander on top of a pan of boiling water, and that works just as well.
- 12 large oysters on the half shell
- 12 teaspoons of black bean sauce
- 2 teaspoons of fried onions
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced
- 7 tablespoons of peanut oil or sunflower oil
Put a layer of water in a wok, and place the steam basket in it. Bring the water to the boil.
Open the oysters and put a teaspoon of black bean sauce on top of each one. Lay the oysters in the steam basket. Steam them for 5 to 10 minutes until they are done. The exact time depends on the size of the oysters, so keep an eye on them.
While the oysters are steaming, heat the oil in a saucepan. Remove the oysters from the steam basket, and put a spoonful of hot oil on top of each. Garnish with sliced green onion and fried onions.
